I’m a lover of photography and a lover of words. Occasionally I like to combine the two when I feel a photo calls for it such as the one above. When I saw those sweet, tiny, beautiful, little violet flowers, I knew immediately what words to use.
How about you? Do you ever feel moved to do more with a photo? Do you alter them? Add words? Textures? Share with us your creations. We’d love to see them.

A very soft…subtle textured overlay:

I enjoy adding words and/or textures as the mood strikes. Sometimes a subtle touch is all that's needed; sometimes I go all out and experiment, like here 🙂

I love the quote you chose for this photo. I feel the same – I think photos and words go perfectly together. I just don't usually put the words on the picture itself, they are part of blog post. I have this one to share, which I created for my computer background some time ago::

In almost every photo I take, I see words. Words of my life. Words of my emotions. Words of stories I cannot bear to forget. It is in those words that I find myself creating pages, journals, memories, records, scrapbooks…whatever you want to call them.

I like to play with textures and words when the photo just doesn't feel complete without it…it's like adding a touch of magic to the ordinary…

Like Kat above, I too like to couple images with words, but the words are usually in the form of a story or a blogpost, as opposed to superimposed on the image itself. The particular Emerson quote you picked is beautiful, as are the flowers. My own take on flowers and words this week centered on blooming anemones:

Oh, I love those beautiful little violets! So beautiful. There are no greens here as of yet so we have to make the best of brown and white. Here's one of only a few remaining hydrangea flowers still attached to the branch. I added a little texture to make it shine bright.

I used to add quotes to my images all the time, however, I haven't done it a whole lot lately. Although I did combine a quote with an image for Valentine's Day that turned out really well.

My children come home with MANY awesome projects and it's hard to keep every-single-thing. I came up with a plan a while back and I try to photograph some of their projects creatively. I add text to the image to note which child made the project and when. This is an example and the text is in the bottom right. It's so hard to keep it all, but the kids like this method quite a bit.

gorgeous shot and perfect quote to boot!
i LOVE doing this… thus the reason i created a gallery {"something to say"} on my blog of all my photos where i add words:
http://itsjusthowiseethings.blogspot.com/search/label/something%20to%20say
i've been doing this since i got into photography… i guess it's the graphic designer in me, wanting to play with two of my favorite art forms… typography and photography. as a graphic designer, i have always had the software to do this, so i just sort of started doing it early on. i didn't really see much of it elsewhere too much. but now this photo enhancement/technique has exploded in popularity along with texture use… or so it seems latey. i LOVE it! it's fun to see what others do with words, too… and how they incorporate them into their photos.

I've taken 100's of flower photos of all kinds, most from my own yard. I haven't yet taken the time to put them to words or alter them, but want to. I've only managed to print my favorites and add to a three ring notebook. Looking for the right words for each.

One of things that I love about photographing animals is that there are times you can swear you know what they're thinking just by that look in their eyes. Othertimes it's just fun to make it up.
While I didn't add the words to this actual photo, never before has the title of the post seemed to fit the picture so well.

While I didn't put words on this actual photo, it was inspired by the quote I shared below it. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." http://www.flickr.com/photos/barilynn/5209847483/in/set-72157622993260913/
